General Information

Description of Service

Provides shelter referrals, as available, to homeless single males/females and married couples. Outreach workers also provide referrals to other agencies for services such as food, clothing, transportation, CA ID assistance/birth certificates (must be born in California), prescription glasses (once every two years), day tripper passes (3 per month for verified appointments), disable bus pass (once every three months/must have disabled ID Medicare card or be a senior 60+), short and long term residential employment program and drug and alcohol program.

This program does not provide direct shelter services.

Services are dependent upon funding availability.

Intended Participants

Homeless individuals and married couples ages 18 and older.

Must meet the following criteria to be interviewed for the program. -Homeless single males, single females and married couples. - Situational (first time) homeless (recently lost housing due to loss of job, rent increase, newly arrived in San Diego, etc.) - Fully capable of working at full time employment - Clean and sober for at least 6 months. Will be tested prior to program entry and randomly during program participation - No felony convictions - Complete program application - Be interviewed by homeless outreach director When accepted in the program, clients will be provided the following: 1. Private room with bath at a single room occupancy (SRO) hotel 2. Housing will be provided for 45-60 days 3. Transportation 4. Clothing 5. Case management 6. Food vouchers 7. Other needed services will be provided on a case by case basis
