Description of Service

Provides routine childhood and adolescent vaccines to protect against diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis, haemophilus influenza type B, pneumococcal diseases, polio, measles, mumps, rubella, varicella, hepatitis A, hepatitis B, and meningococcal meningitis. Also provides routine adult vaccines to protect against tetanus, diphtheria, measles, mumps, and rubella. Adults with certain health conditions/risks may be eligible for pneumococcal vaccine and hepatitis B vaccine. Tdap (tetanus, pertussis and diphtheria) and pneumococcal pneumonia vaccines are also available to eligible persons.

Call for Hepatitis A vaccine or for information. Influenza vaccines for persons 6 months and older are available each year beginning in the fall.

Intake Procedure

Walk-in or call for information about vaccine availability and schedule of low-cost immunization services. Accepts walk-in on a first-come, first-served basis. No appointment needed but if desired, appointments can be made online at https://onlineappts.hhsa-sdcounty.org.

Eligibility

The following individuals are eligible to receive immunizations at County Public Health Centers: • Children and adults who do not have health insurance (adults—only certain vaccines available). •Adults whose health insurance does not include vaccines (only certain vaccines available). •Persons 0-18 years who are Alaskan Native or American Indian. •Persons 0-18 years who have Medi-Cal or are Medi-Cal eligible. •Persons 6 months and older in need of influenza (flu) vaccine regardless of health coverage. Individuals are not eligible for vaccines if their insurance includes vaccinations, even if there are co-pays or deductibles. If you have any questions regarding your eligibility for vaccines at County Public Health Centers, please call your local Center. Record check for children 18 and younger only. Free baby shots are available for children ages 24 months and younger.***Flu Vaccine for persons 6 months and older. The nasal spray vaccine (FluMist) is available for healthy persons 2-49 years old. Pneumococcal pneumonia vaccine and Tdap vaccine are available if medically necessary.
