Description of Service

Provides information about and applications for Medicare programs, including the Medicare Prescription Drug Coverage plan. Offers a speech-automated phone line (which is staffed 24/7, except for federal holidays, but it takes awhile to get to a person) and a website. Medicare is the national health insurance program for people ages 65 and older, some people under age 65 with disabilities, and people with End-Stage Renal Disease (ESRD), which is permanent kidney failure requiring dialysis or a kidney transplant.
