Description of Service

Offers health promotion and disease prevention services with a focus on nutrition programs. Provides a teaching kitchen which is used for cooking demonstrations, food preparation, nutrition planning, and food safety education. Offers tips for shopping economically for nutrition foods. Offers classes for Somali teen girls and Somali adults that focus on cultural cooking practices emphasizing nutrition and physical activity. Offers a class for adults ages 50 years and older that teaches strategies for healthier cooking, meal planning, and budgeting for food. Also offers a support group for new mothers that focuses on breastfeeding and nutrition issues. Offers nutrition classes in Spanish.
