Description of Service

Provides a supplemental food program to low- income women who are pregnant, have recently given birth, or have children under age 5 years. Offers nutrition and breastfeeding information, food vouchers, health education, and provides referrals to prenatal and pediatric health care. Promotes and supports breastfeeding among mothers.

Eligibility

WIC serves the following groups: pregnant women, post-partum (up to 6 months for non-breastfeeding mothers and up to 1 year for breastfeeding mothers), infants and children (up to age 5). Must meet income qualifications: Monthly Gross Income by Household Size: 1 - $1,815 2 - $2,456 3 - $3,098 4 - $3,739 5 - $4,380 6 - $5,022 7 - $5,663 8 - $6,304 More than 8- Add $642 for each additional family member. Note: Unborn children should be counted in family total. Example: Pregnant women with a single unborn child should be counted as two (2) in a family unit. Pregnant women with two unborn children (twins) should be counted as three (3).
