SUMMARY:North Chollas Community Park Planting Event
DESCRIPTION:Volunteer and create some Climate Action! Meet new people\, get a fresh breathe of air\, and start your weekend off right!\nHelp us continue our efforts to restore native habitats by joining us for especial planting event! The last event\, volunteers worked hard to remove invasive Sea Lavender (Limonium perezii)\, which can displace native species and affect soil health. Now\, it’s time to take the next step and plant native plants in its place! This will help restore the habitat and promote the local ecosystem.\nDuring this event\, volunteers will plant a variety of native species in the cleared area\, learn about the importance of native plants in supporting local wildlife and maintaining healthy ecosystems\, and help enhance biodiversity and improve the resilience of this area. You’ll have a chance to work alongside fellow volunteers\, making a tangible impact on our community and the environment.\nNorth Chollas Community Park Planting Event is in partnership with #CAClimateActionCorps a program of @californiavolunteers \, Office of the Governor\, @sdparksandrec \, and HandsOn San Diego.

SUMMARY:Volunteers Needed: WeAllCount
DESCRIPTION:WeAllCount Point-in-Time needs volunteers who will help collect data for San Diego’s annual homeless census on January 30\, 2025! This census will help inform and bring necessary homeless resources to San Diego County. Learn more at the registration page! \nPurpose: \nThe WeAllCount Point-in-Time (PITC) serves the purpose of conducting a one-night census of individuals experiencing homelessness in our community during the month of January. The Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) mandates that Continuum of Cares (CoCs) perform this count every other year\, but the San Diego CoC is dedicated to conducting it annually. The data collected during the WeAllCount plays a vital role in our region’s efforts to reduce homelessness\, making it rare\, brief\, and non-recurring. \nWhat to Expect: \nAs a volunteer for the unsheltered segment of the WeAllCount\, your involvement will kick off on the morning of January 30\, 2025. You will join a team of over 1700 volunteers to canvass the entire San Diego County\, reaching out to individuals experiencing unsheltered homelessness. Your role involves conducting a brief survey and taking a headcount of these individuals. Below are a few key points to the volunteer registration process.
