First 5 San Diego

Do you have a child age 5 or younger or a baby on the way? The first five years of life are critical to a child’s development and shape a child’s success in school and in life. First 5 San Diego has services for families with young children and pregnant women. They educate and help parents and caregivers help children during these early years. Its goal is to help ensure that every child in San Diego County enters school ready to succeed. Parents can call the First 5 San Diego Warm Line at 1-888-5-FIRST5 (888-534-7785) for help locating services and resources for their families.

Women, Infants and Children (WIC) Programs

Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) is a nutrition assistance program that aims to improve the health of pregnant and postpartum individuals as well as children up to age five. It provides benefits for healthy foods, nutrition education, breastfeeding support from trained professionals, and other health and community resources. The WIC program plays an important role in improving birth outcomes and reducing care costs.

Perinatal Care Network (PCN)

The Perinatal Care Network (PCN) helps eligible pregnant women apply for Medi-Cal and access prenatal care. We can help you make your first appointment and find transportation assistance if you need it. If you don’t qualify for Medi-Cal, we can help you find other low-or-no-cost health coverage and other pregnancy services. Call 1-800-675-2229 for help finding prenatal care and other services needed during pregnancy.
