Course Description:
4-Phases of aDisaster: The Resident’s Role
Guest presenters (SDCounty Animal Services, Red Cross San Diego, SD County Fire, SD County Officeof Emergency Services and SDCF CERT) will walk residents through the four (4)phases of a disaster while educating residents on their roles in each phase.
The four (4) phases of adisaster or emergency management are listed below.
1. Preparedness: (pets and people).
2. Mitigation: (fire prevention and home hardening).
3. Response: (evacuation planning and the new GenasysEvac Map).
4. Recovery:(Local Assistance Centers and the funding recoveryprocess).
This presentation isintended to help rural community residents become disaster confident andresilient. This training will prepare residents with the knowledge to helpthemselves, their families, friends, and neighbors prepare for and navigatethrough the four (4) phases. Residents will receive personal disaster planbooks to start their preparedness journey. There is a limited supply of ListosCA CERT Support grant funded emergency preparedness door prizes for completionof the full presentation.
